Jeeves Award For Worst Dressed Celebrity Gardener

Common, or garden gardeners dress themselves in clothes suitable for gardening - although we all find ourselves doing some task that as just crossed our mind, as we are on the way out of the door in our best togs.

The celebrity gardener is faced with a quandary. Do they dress for gardening, or for television? Or as what they think a gardener should look like?

Most navigate this dilemma with some success, but there are a few who undoubtedly, as the Kinks put it..

“….thinks he is a flower to be looked at, And when he pulls his frilly nylon panties right up tight, He feels a dedicated follower of fashion.”

So who is the worst dressed, or who is the worst dressed for gardening?

I'm afraid I'm going to post this anon because I don't want anybody coming after me, but I have to say that Monty Don looks a complete arse most of the time, dressed like some kind of young fogey gardening dandy.

Only most of the time?

MD excelled himself in ATWIEG - it was the bottlebrush hairdo above the ever present dusty cords, blue shirt and manbag that took him to the highest level of awfulness.

It's got to be Sarah Raven, no contest ... love her to death, but those shapeless shirts and cardigans make her look about 20 years old than she is. She needs Trinny and Susannah, badly.

One of these men is like a really nice normal person. The other one is wearing way too much Hugo Boss.

Joe Swift should be wearing a jester's outfit after that allotment debacle, on GW last week.

JCBs and rotaving couch grass!

Not only does Monty look dreadful, he's written an article justifying his choices http://shopping.guardian.co.uk/household/story/0,,1657141,00.html.
He gets my vote.

I can't watch Gardeners World anymore because each day he looks more and more like my ex husband.

Sarah Raven deserves an award for colour co-ordinating all her outfits with her vegetables - imagine having the time to do that?
